Annadanam

The offering of food is the highest charity

Following the ancient Hindu principle that annadānam maha danam—the offering of food is the highest charity—the Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple conducts Annadanam daily as an expression of divine grace and community service.

Every day, after the main Nivedyam is offered to the deities in the sanctum, a sanctified community feast known as Prasada Oottu is served to all devotees. This sacred meal is prepared with devotion and served at the Annadana Mandiram, located near the temple’s western entry. The practice embodies the temple’s role not only as a place of worship but as a living center of seva (selfless service) and nourishment—both physical and spiritual.

Devotees from around the world are invited to participate in this ongoing act of piety. By contributing to the Annadanam fund, one can support this timeless tradition, ensuring that every pilgrim, regardless of background, is welcomed to partake in the blessed prasada. Such contributions are considered a meritorious vazhipad (offering), extending the temple’s blessings into an enduring circle of generosity and grace.
